A memoir in which Paula Fox recalls her youth, telling of how she was rescued from an orphanage by her Cuban grandmother after being placed there shortly after her birth, discussing her stable early life with a bachelor minister, and tracing the ensuing years moving from home to home at the whim of her unstable, mostly absent parents.
