Weighing the elephant

Hei-dou, a young boy who cares for the family of friendly elephants that live in the Chinese village Beyond the Clouds, is dismayed when the Emperor decides he wants the baby Huan-huan for himself, and must think of some way to win little elephant back from the cruel ruler.
