Alice Michaels was left a peculiar inheritance by her aunt. Her age and her unladylike interest in automatons has made her an unlikely marriage prospect in 1857 clockwork Britannia. Then she meets Gavin Ennock, a pilot stranded in London, who comes to her aid when she receives unwelcome attention from the Third Ward.
