Boston private investigator Carlotta Carlyle, unable to get anyone to share information about why her mob-connected boyfriend Sam Gianelli has been indicted for a murder that is keeping him out of the country, decides to take a simple job checking out a fiance for a nervous bride-to-be, but when the young woman is found dead, Carlotta suddenly finds herself under suspicion and in over her head.
