In 1970s Salinas Valley California, teenager Sheila O'Connor, still dealing with the death of her father six years earlier, tries to control her own fate and follow her dreams while struggling to come to terms with the upcoming marriage of her mother, her brother's enlistment into the military, and her best friend's life changing decisions.
