The king of lies

Jackson Workman "Work" Pickens, a criminal defense attorney in a class-conscious southern town, has come to hate his profession and his life, with the burdens of a bad marriage, psychologically damaged sister, and missing father weighing him down, but he is shocked out of his inertia when his father's corpse is found and Work becomes the prime suspect in the murder.
