Looking back

The friendship among Norma, Cecile, and Amanda does not survive the post-college years after Amanda marries Norma's brother to escape a life of poverty, then embarks on an affair with her father-in-law; and Norma undermine's Cecile's husband in an attempt to boost her own husband's career.
