Pacific odyssey to California, 1905

In the early twentieth century, eleven-year-old Su-Na and her younger sisters travel from their home in Korea to the promising shores of Hawaii, but upon their arrival her father must work long hours for little money and the family is exposed to the racism prevalent among Asians of differing descent.
