Fiddler on the Roof

Internationally acclaimed star Topol gives the performance of a lifetime in this uplifting musical that earned eight Academy Award nominations and three Oscars. Director Norman Jewison adapted the highly successful stage production of tradition and love in the face of oppression so that "the screen literally turns into a tapestry of beauty and excitement". Academy Award-winner John Williams (Best Scoring) adapted the words and music for such favorites as "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker" exuberantly choreographed by Jerome Robbins. Topol is Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman with five unmarried daughters to support in the village of Anatevka in Czarist Russia. With a sharp-tongued wife at home and growing anti-Semitism in the village, Tevye talks to God about his troubles.
