This is a beautiful, touching story of a family's experiences with slavery and their ultimate quest for freedom. The dominant themes are slavery and freedom, and we are given a quick peek into the inner workings of the Underground Railroad, a system of transportation and safe havens that assisted a number of slaves in their quest for freedom.
