Rise of the darklings

Twelve-year-old Emily Snow, who sells watercress on the streets of London to support herself and younger brother, takes the fate of humanity into her hands when she unknowingly involves herself in a war between two factions of piskies--small, sarcastic fey creatures fighting for control over England--by rescuing one.
