Prescription and over-the-counter drugs can cure people of illnesses or relieve their pain, but there are other drugs that serve no medical purpose but are used by individuals for their effects on perceptions, emotions, and levels of energy. These substances, although illega,l and prevalent in modern-day America and can pose major health risks to individuals, not least psychological and/or physical dependence.
