Twelve-year-old Christopher Nichols and his family are colonists on a new planet called Perses, part of Melming Mining's mission to save the Earth. When attackers called Landers destroy the colony to steal metal and raw ore, Christopher and a small group of survivors hide out in the mining tunnels below the surface and try to get an emergency message to Earth.
