Race to the polar sea

Describes the adventures of Elisha Kent Kane while he led an expedition across the Arctic tundra in order to rescue Sir John Franklin and his men, who were stranded in ice fields, and also discusses his relationship to Maggie Fox, a young Canadian spiritualist whom he loved but his family did not approve of him marrying.
