Factory girl

Sixteen-year-old Roshen is dreaming of becoming a teacher when she's sent with a group of other girls away from her desert home in northern China to work in a southern factory town. Alone, facing deplorable conditions and contempt from older workers, Roshen becomes a leader for the other young girls around her, and as time goes on, she knows she won't return home the same person.
