Lacrosse

The sport of lacrosse is as old as North America itself, developed in the New World by the native tribes that used lacrosse for battle training, dispute settlement and religious ritual. Games between rival tribes were violent and would last for days. In modern lacrosse, the game is much shorter, but the element of violence still exists in the full contact mens version. Lacrosse is a popular womens sport as well, played in thousands of high schools and more than 100 NCAA Division I colleges. There are two professional mens leagues, one indoor and one outdoor.
