500 miles off the coast of Mexico and 2 miles below the ocean surface, the film crew of a research submarine shoots video footage that reveals how the ocean floor canyons that make up the mid-ocean ridge are formed. Also introduces viewers to lifeforms that survive in the extremely hot, highly toxic environment around thermal vents.
