This is where the world ends

For as long as eighteen-year-old Micah Carter can remember, he and Janie have been "soul mates," even though outgoing Janie loves art while shy Micah loves music. Their relationship was perfect, until the day Janie was assaulted, though she didn't tell anyone. After a fire consumes Janie's house, no one knows if she is alive or dead. Micah, questioned by the police and his friends, starts questioning how much he really knew about Janie, and whether or not he and she could ever be more than they were.
