Roger Graetz, raised in a Boston suburb by his aristocratic Guatemalan mother, becomes involved in a complicated mystery when he attempts to discover the truth about the murder of Flor de Mayo, the head of an orphanage in Guatemala in the 1980s who became his friend and confidante when she worked as a maid for his family when he was just a boy.
