Elizabeth Angier, anticipating a summer of work and play on the family farm, is upset when the arrival of Harmony Farms Corporation causes havoc in the farming community, and her life is further disturbed when she is approached by Gaia, the living organism of the Earth, who needs Elizabeth's help in stopping the destruction caused by the factory farm operation.
