Lalla, a young girl living in the Muslim part of West Africa, greatly desires to wear a beautiful malafa like her mother, sister, and cousin, but when she asks those women of authority in her life to have one, they tell her about all the tradition and Islamic religious significance of the malafa and why it is not just any lady who can wear one.
