A for effort

Jay is starting his freshman year of high school, which means a lot of big changes, from a new school to new classes and friends. When he learns that no advanced art class is offered in the fall, he finds himself in the only other available elective: theater. Jay isn't so sure he has what it takes to be an actor, but he reluctantly agrees to try it out. Soon, things get complicated as his new friend group's obsession with perfect grades puts the pressure on, and he starts to question if he can handle the expectations of his friends and parents. As the year goes on, Jay gets more confident in his acting abilities and discovers that learning something new for the sake of it is exactly what he needed.
