Visits the states of Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Explores the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest. Takes a whitewater raft ride down the rapids of the Rio Grande River and travels on historic Route 66. Talks with local people, shows how Indian pottery is created and describes the natural resources, history and culture of the region. Also introduces Southwestern foods such as burritos, chili and Navajo fry bread and visits a cattle ranch to experience the daily life of a rancher.
