Please be my star

Eleventh grader Erika Early has just moved to Texas with her family and is starting at a new high school. Having never had friends before, she's surprised when she joins the theater club and bonds with a new group of friends, including the handsome Christian Dominguez. Erika is soon obsessing over him, but her insecurities, manifested as a dark, shadowed version of herself, constantly tell her she's not good enough for him. She channels her thoughts and feelings into a one act play with Christian and her friends playing out the romance in her head and hopes Christian won't realize the play is about him.
