Toklo, Kallik, Lusa, and Yakone trek onward toward the Melting Sea, the site of Kallik's traumatic cubhood--and prepare to be separated for the first time since their journey began.
As the three bears, Toklo, Lusa, and Kallik, begin their journey home, they encounter new friends and dangerous enemies and must decide who they can trust to help them on their quest.
While traversing the Melting Sea, Kallik learns her brother has become part of a roaming group of bears who attack others to possess food and territory. Horrified by this revelation, Kallik tries to find a way to turn her brother away from his dark path.

At the edge of the Endless Ice, the four bears Ujurak, Toklo, Lusa, and Kallik reach Star Island, where a large group of bears is in trouble but believes Lusa is destined to help bring back the favor of the spirits.
While preparing to battle the Dark Forest, the warrior Clans turn on each other in fear and distrust, provoked by a mysterious stranger who appears in the ThunderClan's midst.
As Dovepaw, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze strive to understand and fulfill the prophecy that promises them great power, the cats of the Dark Forest begin to teach battle skills and techniques to different Clan cats through dreams.
