Having jumped into the fantasy land of Luster, Cara joins Lightfoot the unicorn in the search for Queen Arabella Skydancer.

Seeking to unravel the secret of the long enmity between unicorns and delvers, Cara travels through a strange underground world to the court of the centaur king, while on Earth, Beloved and her hunters make final plans to jump to the fantasy land of Luster and drive the unicorns to extinction.

When the huge tree, Axis Mundi, the heart of the world, is wounded, the army of Hunters marches through that wound determined to kill all of the unicorns who must rally to defend themselves. A human girl, Cara, goes on a dangerous mission to meet a mysterious dragon and is forced to make a decision that will change her life.
