An historical fiction depicting the World War II diary of a young Jewish girl whose family is attempting to flee Nazi-occupied Europe for Canada in the early days of the war.

Presents the fictional diary of Dorothy Wilson, a twelve-year-old girl from Halifax, Nova Scotia, in which she tries to work out her feelings and fears after surviving the "Titanic" disaster and being expelled from school for slapping an insensitive classmate.

Presents the fictional journal of Julia May Jackson, beginning in Virginia in 1863 when she and her family decided to flee slavery for freedom in the North, and telling of her life in Canada.

A young Canadian girl uses her diary to record the events surrounding the December 1917 explosion that destroyed her small town in Nova Scotia and her own struggles to rebuild her life and family.
