Setsuna finds Kurai in Hell only to discover that Lucifer is prepared to destroy Hell and its inhabitants if Kurai does not marry him. During the school sports festival, Yoh begins to think that his friend Haruna has feelings for Asaoka, who he is dating and trying to teach about love, and does not know how to react.

Yoh is concerned that a freshman boy has the hots for Haruna, who hasn't even noticed, and worries what Haruna will do when the boy makes his move.

Haruna bears the responsibility of taking care of Yoh when his parents leave town, and it occurs to her that she might take advantage of the opportunity so that the two of them can be alone.

Haruna comes face-to-face with Yoh's ex-girlfriend on the train and is reassured that he does not want to get back together with his ex, but Haruna wonders if those are his true feelings.

When Haruna gets into the ninth grade, she starts finding boys to be more interesting than softball, and just as things are going her way, transfer student Reona Matsuzaka shows up with her vengeful ways and ruins all the fun.

Haruna fears that Yoh is in love with her friend Mami when she spots the two of them together, and, instead of confronting them, Haruna runs away and risks ruining her relationship with Yoh.

While Yoh continues to coach Haruna on how to attract the boys at her school, she finds herself having stronger feelings for him, which violates the only condition Yoh set before agreeing to help her, and when Yoh questions Haruna about why she has begun to act strangely around him, Haruna must decide whether or not to confess her true feelings.
