After having accidentally come across the eighteenth-century "Portrait of a Young Lady", Violet embarks on a trip to Italy hoping to discover her own past and why the girl in the portrait is her own mirror image. In her quest she discovers long buried family secrets, mysterious Italian paintings, an old castle on the hill, and a danger that is lurking just around the corner.
