Thirteen-year-old Jeff Beacon, taken on an Alaskan cruise by his parents who are trying to help him get over the death of his dog, Buddy, finds himself transported in time to the Alaskan frontier where he becomes involved in an adventure with Patsy Ann, the Bull Terrier that has been named Juneau's official town greeter.
