Listening at the gate / James, Betsy

Kat, an outcast among both her father and mother's tribes, finds comfort with Nall, also an outcast; but when war breaks out between the two clans and Kat's brother is taken prisoner, Kat and Nall embark upon a dangerous journey to the Gate where the world was born.

After seventeen-year-old Kat leaves the Creek home of her mother's sister, she returns to Downshore and becomes embroiled in upheaval there and in the land of the Rigi, as well as in Nall's quest to go to the Gate.
