A biography of Tchicaya Missamou, discussing his life as an eleven-year-old child soldier in the Congo, his family being brutalized and being hunted by his own militia, and his escape to Europe and then to America where he became a U.S. Marine.

The author tells the story of his experiences in the People's Republic of the Congo, where he went, accompanied by friend and animal behaviorist Lary Shaffer, to search for a dinosaur rumored to be living in a remote lake.
