What starts as a simple investigation to determine who is sending threats to a show dog named Princess turns serious for Chet, a dog, and his human partner, Bernie Little, when Princess and her owner are abducted.

Bernie Little is invited to give the keynote speech at the Great Western Private Eye Convention, and while Bernie and his canine companion Chet are attending the convention, they investigate the disappearance of a boy who has vanished from a wilderness camp in the high country.

Chet and his human companion Bernie are called in to investigate a series of threats made against a pampered show dog named Princess, and when Princess and her owner are abducted and Bernie's girlfriend, reporter Susie Sanchez, disappears, the detective team realizes the show dog world is more dangerous than they ever imagined.

Chet the dog narrates this story of an adventure with Bernie, a private investigator, working on the case of the disappearance of a teenage girl named Madison. She turns up unharmed but her story doesn't make sense and then she disappears again.
