Fifteen-year-old Dustin Martinez, an aspiring astronaut, in Cocoa Beach, Florida, is devastated when the space shuttle "Challenger" explodes shortly after launch, and when he learns his father, a scallop boat captain, is going to help NASA's recovery effort, he makes plans to stow away and join the hunt.
