Tillie Reese, having agreed to tutor footman Mack Danvers in proper servant etiquette, debates if she should act on her feelings for Mack, even though it would break a rule concerning relationships between servants, or deny her own emotions in order to become Edith Vanderbilt's lady's maid, and, when Tillie and Mack get caught up in a cover-up at the orphanage, she finds her job is threatened even further.
