Sophie's mixed-up magic

When sixth-grader Sophie receives a mysterious ring, she discovers that putting it on turns her into a genie. Now, she must learn to manage her new powers while finding her place in school.

Sixth-grader Sophie has been turned into a genie and suffers from Random Wish Disorder. What's more, she has learned that her father, who is missing, is a djinn, like in the Arabian stories. Also, she has had a heart stopping moment with Jonathan Tait. All that stands in her way of being happy is Jon's twin sister, the decision about her magic to be made by the Djinn Council, and her quest to find her father. However, she may not be all that in control of her destiny after all.

As she works to manage the new abilities she has gained now that she is a genie, Sophie also works with her djinn-guide, Malik, to locate her missing father. Bringing him back, however, may mean entering the lair of an evil sahir--a prospect that will push her abilities to the limit.
