beiderbecke, bix

A biography of the cornet player from Davenport, Iowa, who helped raise jazz to a respected musical form and who was inducted into the International Jazz Hall of Fame in 1997.

Presents a fictionalized account of the career of Bix Beiderbecke, a self-taught musician and composer who rose to fame in the 1920s, only to see it all end with the stock market crash of 1929 by which time Bix was in an asylum due to consumption of bootleg gin.
