A nine-year-old boy receives a toy Native American, a cupboard, and a little key for his birthday and embarks on an adventure when the toy comes to life and befriends him.

Omri's father discovers the magic of the cupboard. Then, when father and son read Iroquois history and realize that Little Bull, the cupboard Indian, is endangered by English settlers, they risk their lives to travel back in time and help their friend.
