Richard Cypher, wielder of the Sword of Truth, joins with his beloved Kahlan to track down the hunters of souls she unwittingly unleashed when she summoned the dominion of the chimes in an effort to save Richard from a deadly evil.

Richard Cypher, a woodsman saves Kahlan, a beautiful woman who is fleeing the evil mage Rahl's assassins as she tries to find Zedd, the last of the great wizards. Only Zedd can anoint a Seeker of Truth, who must wield the terrible power of the legendary Sword of Truth. Zedd calls upon Richard to become the seeker and battle the evil mage.

Richard Cypher, Seeker of Truth, has succeded in throwing the vile Darken Rahl into the underworld, but the battle is not over yet as Rahl continues to wield his sinister power through a rip in the viel to the underworld, threatening to unleash the ultimate evil upon the world above.
