Ten years ago, fifteen-year-old Scarlett Rainsford vanished while on a family holiday in Greece. Was she abducted or did she run away? Police constable Lou Smith worked on the case and failing to solve it, regards it as one of the biggest regrets of her career. Therefore no one is more shocked than Lou when Scarlett turns up unexpectedly during a Special Branch raid of a brothel in Briarstone. As Lou begins to find out what happened and where she's been until now, it becomes obvious that most of her family is less than enthusiastic about her return. It soon becomes clear that Scarlett holds the key not only to her own case but to another case that Lou is working on as well.
