Han Solo and Chewbacca must pay a large price for help in escaping Boba Fett's pursuit. Luke Skywalker and fellow pilot Prithi were grounded by Princess Leia, but disobey orders and set out to locate their fellow squad members-who are in trouble after their face off with Colonel Bircher's Star Destroyer.

The realities of fighting the Empire begin to take their toll on the Rebel Alliance. Princess Leia grounds two of her key pilots just as the Empire prepares to attack with an elite squadron of TIE interceptors. Meanwhile, Han Solo and Chewbacca run into trouble on Coruscant.

When an Imperial Star Destroyer unexpectedly intercepts an Alliance scouting mission, Rebel leader Mon Mothma begins to suspect there is a spy in the ranks. She charges Princess Leia with a secret mission that involves uncovering the spy. Meanwhile she sends Han Solo on a mission of his own.

Their resupply mission exposed to the Empire, Han Solo and Chewbacca hide in the Coruscant underworld; Darth Vader finds an unexpected ally in the Force; Luke Skywalker is prompted to further disobey orders by a visit from the ghost of Ben Kenobi; and Princess Leia and her X-Wing squadron are cornered and forced to make a stand.
