Simon is a little boy who loves winter and would like it to stay all year long, but he learns to appreciate the seasons when he sees how difficult survival is for animals in the wintertime.
When three wood dealers come to town, they mesmerize the people into chopping down all their trees until only one is left and the land becomes a desert. Two children then teach the villagers a meaningful lesson in ecology and everyone works together to save the land.
A boy and girl are disturbed because the man who creates the north wind has caused all the leaves to blow from the trees, so the girl makes a journey to help bring the leaves back.
