The true story of Benny, an Aleut Indian boy who lived in Alaska before it became a state. When a contest is held to design a flag for Alaska, Benny creates one using a blue field to stand for the Alaska sky and the forget-me-not flower; the North Star for the future State of Alaska, the most northerly of the Union; and the dipper for the Great Bear -- symbolizing strength. Benny's design was chosen from hundreds of submissions and is now the state flag for Alaska.
