As he and Joe try to get to the eight-grade basketball game in time, Wishbone the dog imagines himself as Robinson Crusoe, the sole survivor of a shipwreck who lived on a deserted island for nearly thirty years.
Oakdale is in the midst of a blackout and Joe will miss his basketball tryout unless he and Wishbone can make it across town in time, which reminds Wishbone of the tale of Robinson Crusoe. Wishbone imagines he is the shipwrecked traveler who must survive by his wits alone.
