Bloodshed, battles, and bitter rivalries- the last half of the 18th century was a time of unrest. Great Britain ruled the American colonists, who wanted representation in their own government. The colonists were willing to fight and die for that freedom. John Hancock rallied for independence. He helped lead the colonies into the Revolutionary War and brought them out as a unified country- the new United States. His signature on the Declaration Of Independence made him the ultimate traitor to the crown- and the ulitimate patriot to the new nation.
