It's been a month of in-game time since the girls were trapped in Io, and while Mikayla, Suzanne, and Brit have grown more powerful, their enemies grow more dangerous by the day. Now the girls find themselves allied with Queen Libra and the kingdom of Pyxis in a war against the treachrous King Ramses of Altair. But war in Io is nothing like war in the real world. When the conflict comes to a head, the girls will have to take responsibility not just for themselves, but for an entire kingdom.

Trapped in Io and betrayed by Ramses, the king of Altair, Brit, Mikayla, and Suzanne flee to the queendom of Pyxis. While they travel through the game world, they learn that even though Io is a fantasy world, its citizens face very real problems. Suzanne discovers more depth to the non-player characters (NPCs) she created than she ever imagined possible. Still, no matter how real Io feels to them, the girls can't forget about their bodies waiting back in the real world.

Suzanne Thurston spends all her free time working on her video game. This isn't an ordinary game--instead of using a normal controller, Suzanne designs the Total Immersion Interface, a virtual reality helmet that puts the player right in the game. Now Suzanne's ready to test the game out, along with her two best friends, Brit and Mikayla. At first everything seems to go right as they fight monsters and take on a quest from King Ramses. But Suzanne's about to learn that Io isn't exactly how she programmed it.
