Sam the puppy, envious of the children getting on the bus for school, decides to sneak aboard and join the fun.

Jennie meets her new neighbors' sheepdog, Samantha, who has a knack for sniffing out a mystery, and when Jennie realizes she can read the dog's thoughts, they investigate a creepy house, determined to find out if the owner, McIver, is actually Dracula.

Sam is convinced that she has been cursed and that her new neighbors are witches, but when her friends search the house, hoping to find a book of spells to lift Sam's curse, the homeowners return unexpectedly.

Canine sleuth Sam is not looking forward to spending the weekend at Sagawa Lake, until she and her human friends find an old diary that offers clues to the mystery that has surrounded the lake for years.
