Gringo nightmare

a young American framed for murder in Nicaragua
2010
Erice Volz moved from California to Nicaragua in 2005 when he was in his late twenties after co-founding a successful bilingual magazine. There he met beautiful Doris Jimenez but the relationship lasted less than a year. They remained friends and then on November 21, 2006, he received a phone call that Doris had been found murdered in her seaside clothing boutique. As he comforted her friends and family he was arrested for a murder he didn't commit. Imprisoned, he suffered horrific conditions. Through the tireless support of his friends and family and a former intelligence operative he was finally released in December 2007 after more than a year in prison.
