The broken moon series

When Ren wakes up after healing from life-threatening injuries, he discovers that his love has returned to his position with the Phoenix Corps, the same group hunting for Ren. Ren convinces his friends to go on one more dangerous mission with him to save Asher, find Ren's brother, and escape the Corps' reach forever.

After being forced into slavery by the despotic ruler of his home planet, Ren discovers he is a mythical Star Host. With the help of another prisoner, a member of the revered Phoenix Corps regiment, Ren learns to control his emerging technopathic abilities in time to escape their captivity in order to warn others of the evil ruler's plan to conquer the peaceful Drift Alliance.

As Ren's nightmares attack the Star Stream while he sleeps, he tries to prove he is no threat and to return to his home planet, Erden, the only place he can hope to reverse his insanity, where he also plans to seek his missing brother.
