Academy of Dance

After years of ballet Jada feels she is ready to go "on pointe," but the process is more complicated than she realized. From being measured and fitted for the shoes to tying the laces correctly, she still has a lot to learn, and that is before she actually tries to walk in pointe shoes, which seems to use muscles she was barely aware of. For the first time Jada finds that ballet hurts.

Gabby signs up for the contemporary dance class at Ms. Marianne's Academy of Dance. She makes new friends in the class, which causes her best friends to get a little jealous. Excited to dance for fun rather than competition, she still must find a way to balance her old life with her new.

Gabby is taking the new contemporary dance class at Ms. Marianne's Academy of Dance, and she quickly bonds with Sophie, who has transferred into the Academy--but her best friends seem strangely reluctant to include Sophie in their after class fun, and soon Gabby feels torn between her new friend and her old ones whose attitude she does not understand.

Brie and the rest of the dancers at Ms. Marianne's Academy of Dance are on their way to Florida to compete in the Citrus Jam which is held just outside of Orlando, and where first place includes the opportunity to march in the Main Street Parade at Disney World--but the team from Austin, Texas, includes some girls who are planning to sabotage the other competitors.

Moving to New Jersey from Philadelphia was stressful, but at least Jada has found Ms. Marianne's Academy of Dance, where she can continue to dance ballet--but she is not sure that the other girls at the Academy welcome her, and when she sprains her ankle in practice she is sure that the whole universe is against her.

Ms. Marianne's Academy of Dance is Grace's refuge from middle school, but when Ella, the girl that makes fun of her at school, decides to join the Academy, Grace has two choices: let Ella's snide comments mess up her dance practice, or find her voice and, with the support of her friends, stand up to the bully.

When Gabriela hears about tryouts for a solo dance at the next dance competition she is super excited, but when Brie, her best friend at Ms. Marianne's Academy of Dance, decides to try out as well, it seems like it might be the end of a beautiful friendship--because Gabby really wants this opportunity, and she is having trouble dealing with the idea of competing against a friend.
